Steven’s practice often sees him involved in complex multi-party litigation against large and well resourced opponents. He has extensive appellate experience in the NSW Court of Appeal, the Full Federal Court of Australia and the High Court of Australia.

Steven has acted in numerous class actions and multi-plaintiff actions against ASX listed companies and financial advisors. An innovative lawyer, Steven successfully brought a world first class action against a number of international airlines including Qantas and British Airways on behalf of travel agents for the recovery of commission on fuel surcharges.

In addition to his commercial litigation and class action work Steven practices in the areas of professional negligence; trade practices; defamation; insolvency/bankruptcy; property and lease disputes; land, environment, aviation and travel law.

Steven is a regular commentator in the media on class actions and legal issues.

Steven has had a long and passionate involvement in social justice issues. He has run a number of landmark cases for breaches of the anti-vilification provisions under Australia’s Racial Discrimination Act and provides advice to a range of community organisations.

Steven is recognised for his litigation achievements. He is named in the 2013 edition of Benchmark Asia-Pacific as an Australian dispute star for plaintiff and class actions.

Steven holds a Bachelor of Arts and a Post Graduate Diploma in Urban Studies from Macquarie University and a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Technology, Sydney.
